Jennifer Cavanaugh
Jennifer Cavanaugh was born in Portland, Maine and studied at the Portland School of Ballet. As a teenager she attended the North Carolina School of the Arts. Upon graduation she joined the North Carolina Dance Theatre and danced as a soloist there for nine years. She has performed as a Guest Artist with Tampa Ballet and Ballet Metropolitan in Columbus, Ohio and been a member of the Chautauqua Ballet Company. |
| Since joining American Repertory Ballet in 1999 Ms. Cavanaugh has danced many principal roles in Graham Lustig’s ballets including Uncertain Steps, Cadenza, Borderlines, Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Beauty in Beauty and the Beast... a Gothic Romance, and the title role in Cinderella. Mr. Lustig created the role of Marie in Graham Lustig’s The Nutcracker for Ms. Cavanaugh, as well as major roles in VISTA, and Dialogues. She has danced the second violin in George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, been featured in Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena, Twlya Tharps’s Baker’s Dozen, and created roles in Dominique Dumais’ – a part between parts –, and Harrison McEldowney’s Ménage a Cinque. Powerful yet sensitive, her performances in the roles of The Chosen One in Salvatore Aiello’s Rite of Spring and Kate in Mr. Lustig’s The Shrew, have earned her much acclaim. Since 2003 Ms. Cavanaugh has spent her summers dancing in Asheville, North Carolina, with Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance. Ms Cavanaugh is a certified Pilates instructor. |
