Rider University/Princeton Ballet School Dance Program

This unique partnership allows Rider University dance majors and minors to complete their studio course requirements at the Princeton Ballet School while earning an undergraduate degree in Fine and Performing Arts with a concentration in dance. Students also have the opportunity to double major, combining dance with Elementary Education, Theater, Communications or Business. Students enroll in classes taught by both the Princeton Ballet School and Rider University faculty. Classes can be taken at the Princeton Ballet School’s Princeton location, and on Rider’s Lawrenceville campus. Various techniques including ballet, modern, jazz, pilates and world dance forms are studied. The program is adapted to fit each student’s interests and abilities, and provides performance opportunities through both Rider University as well as with American Repertory Ballet in The Nutcracker, ARBW, and as part of the Princeton Ballet School’s pre-professional training program. Rider students also have many internship opportunities with Princeton Ballet School, American Repertory Ballet, DANCE POWER, TEDI, and the Princeton YWCA among many others.

Graduates of the program have gone onto:

  • Perform professionally both locally and across the country, including with American Repertory Ballet
  • Dance in the trainee program at Princeton Ballet School
  • Teach in private studios, outreach programs and public schools
  • Work as administrators in an array of dance venues
  • Attend graduate school for dance related degrees such as Dance Movement Therapy and Dance Physical Therapy
