Matanya Solomon was born in Alexandria VA, and began his dance training at the age of 14. At 15, he began studying at the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory where he spent four years under the direction of Victoria Mazzarelli, Tim Melady, and Eleanor D’Antouno before joining American Repertory Ballet as a Trainee in 2016. This is his fourth season with American Repertory Ballet and his first season as a company member. His Repertoire includes, “Snow King”, “Nutcracker Prince”, and “Candy Cane” in Douglas Martin’s “Nutcracker”, “Franz” In Princeton Ballet schools “Coppelia”, “Ad Man” in Douglas Martin’s “Rite of Spring”, Jose Limon’s “There is a Time” and Paul Taylor’s “Airs”. Most recently he spent time in Italy where he attended The 7th Stage Internazionale di Danza Città di Verona and took classes with Jean-François Boisnon, Ballet Master at Ballett Zurich.
