Photo By Leighton Chen (Princeton/New Brunswick, N.J.) –Princeton Ballet School, the official school of American Repertory Ballet, announces its nationwide audition tour schedule for its highly celebrated Summer Intensive program held in Princeton, N.J., from June 27-July 29, 2016. Three cities in Europe are also part of the audition tour. First held in 1982, Princeton Ballet School’s Summer Intensive is one of the oldest in the United States.

The Summer Intensive program is one of serious study in a warm and companionable atmosphere. The faculty provides caring and careful instruction conducive to technical and artistic progress. In seeking to maintain a feeling of community, Princeton Ballet School purposely limits the number of students in class.

Photo By Leighton Chen Auditions are conducted by various Princeton Ballet School faculty members throughout the United States and Europe to select 100 students for the program. The audition will give students the opportunity to experience the approach to the classical ballet technique that Princeton Ballet School is famous for, as well as allowing the audition instructor to see who is capable of thriving in that environment. Students must be ages 13 and older; classes are held at the Princeton Studio location with optional housing at Princeton University. There is an audition fee of $30 (with a pre-registration possible at $25). For those unable to make the in-person audition, a video audition is possible.

Mary Pat Robertson is now in her 35th year as Director of Princeton Ballet School.

Douglas Martin is the Artistic Director of American Repertory Ballet.

Carol Bellis is the Summer Programs Coordinator and long-standing member of the faculty at Princeton Ballet School.

Tempe Ostergren is a principal dancer with Kansas City Ballet, and studied at Princeton Ballet School as a child.
